Compatriot Jay Marvin Balfour, age 95, passed away Oct. 31, 2011. Jay was born March 9, 1916, in Fremont, Neb., to Marvin W. and Libby Sarah Clark Balfour. He served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years. Jay was a volunteer for the Genealogical Forum of Oregon and was honored with a life membership. He was a Charter member of Lewis & Clark Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution in Beaverton. He was an involved member of the Sons of the American Revolution continually for 48 years serving as the Lewis and Clark Chapter and the Oregon Society President.
He also belonged to Sons of the Revolution; the Point Defiance Masonic Lodge in Tacoma; the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States; Scottish Rite in Oakland, Calif.; and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vancouver. His highest military honor was the Bronze Star. A graveside service was held at Mountain View Cemetery in Centralia, Washington.
