OSSCAR Wins First Place in the 2011 Albany Veteran’s Day Parade

The Oregon State Society of the Children of the American Revolution received the First Place award for Youth Floats in the 2011 Albany Oregon Veteran’s Day Parade. The theme of the float was a combination of the Oregon State Society C.A.R. Project and the National C.A.R. Presidents’ Project. The OSSCAR members constructed a model of the proposed Revolutionary War Memorial planned for the Memorial Park in Beaverton Oregon. They also constructed a model of a “Fisher House” to support the National C.A.R. President’s project. The float was adorned with bunting and patriotic teddy bears.

Sixteen members of the Oregon State Society CAR from three different C.A.R. Chapters marched in Revolutionary War costume or C.A.R. tee-shirts. They enjoyed passing out candy and waving to the crowds.
